How do I add a reminder to one item on my list?
In Just List you can add a reminder to a single item in seconds: type the time right into the add box (“Call grandma tomorrow at 6pm”), hold an item and pick a time, or swipe it a little and tap “Remind”. Reminders are free.
How to do it
Type the time with the item
In the add box, type something like “Call grandma tomorrow at 6pm”. A reminder chip shows up above the box, and once you add it the item is saved as “Call grandma” with the reminder set.
Or: hold an item that's already on the list
A small sheet opens over the list. Under “Remind me”, tap a ready-made time, “Pick a time…” for anything else, or “When I get somewhere”.
Or: swipe it a little
Swipe the item slightly to the side and tap the round “Remind” button.
Change it or remove it
On an item with a reminder, the sheet shows when it will ring, with “Change” and “Remove”.
In Just List you can put a reminder on one item without opening a separate screen. The fastest way: write the time as part of the item, like “Call grandma tomorrow at 6pm”. The app picks it up, takes the time words out of the item text and sets the reminder. For an item that's already on the list, hold it and pick a time, or swipe it a little and tap “Remind”. All free.
The problem
Most things on a list don't need a reminder. “Renew passport” and “Return the library book” do, and if setting one takes five taps, it just doesn't happen.
Three ways
- Type when. “Pay the water bill on Sunday”, “Move the laundry in an hour”, “Dentist tomorrow at 8”. You see when it will ring above the box, and the × cancels it.
- Hold it. A small sheet over your list: text you can edit in place, “Remind me” with ready-made times, “When I get somewhere”, amount, scan and delete. Close it and the change is saved.
- Swipe it a little. Three round buttons: “Remind”, “Edit” and “Delete”. A long swipe deletes, and you can undo.
A reminder for the whole list, or by location?
That's in another guide: How do I get a list reminder by location, or at a set time?
What's free and what's Plus
Completely free. Time and location reminders don't need Plus.

Which words does the app understand as a time?
“today”, “tonight”, “tomorrow”, “on Monday”, “at 5”, “at 5pm”, “at 17:30”, “in 2 hours”, “in 30 minutes”, “this morning”, “this evening”. It understands Hebrew times too. A plain number, like “2 lbs” or “3% milk”, never counts as a time.
I typed “tomorrow” with no time. When will it ring?
At 9:00 in the morning. A bare hour with no am/pm: 7 to 11 means morning, 1 to 6 means afternoon, and 12 is noon. A time that has already passed today moves to tomorrow.
It picked up a time I didn't mean. What now?
Tap the × on the reminder chip before you add the item. Your words stay in the item text and it's added without a reminder.
Can a reminder repeat every week?
Yes. Hold the item, tap “More options”, and you'll find repeats, alarm mode and keep-reminding-until-done there.
Is there another way in?
Yes, from the bell in the list's top bar: “For one item…”, then pick the item.
Which lists does this work on?
Most of them: shopping, to-do, wishlist, recipes and more. Lists with their own screen, like coupons, subscriptions and expenses, work as before.
Will the people I share the list with get my reminder?
No. An item reminder is just for you. Everyone on a shared list sets their own.
