Who brings what

How do I run a snack or treat rotation for a class?

Make one Just List event with a slot for each date, share the link in the parents' group, and each parent taps the date they'll cover. No app, no account.

How to do it

  1. Describe the rotation

Go to justlistapp.com/en/justy and type something like "snack rotation for Ms. Dana's class, one family per Friday". Justy drafts the list.

  2. Make each date a slot

Use one event with a slot per date, such as "Friday Nov 6 snack". Keep the names short so parents can scan them.

  3. Share the link with the parents' group

Post it once. Parents open it, see which dates are free and tap the one they'll cover.

  4. Check who's up next

Open the list any time to see what's covered and which dates are still empty.

Make one Just List event with a slot for each date, share the link in the parents' group, and each parent taps the date they'll cover. No app, no account, and no more scrolling up a 400-message chat to find whose turn it is.

The problem

Every class has a rotation, and every rotation lives in a group chat. "Whose turn is it this Friday?" "I think Dana?" "No, Dana did last week." Someone eventually makes a table, and nobody can find it.

How it works

  1. Describe it to Justy at justlistapp.com/en/justy, or build the list by hand.
  2. Add the dates as slots. One slot per Friday (or per day), each meaning "snack for this day".
  3. Share the link in the parents' group.
  4. Parents claim a date. Taken slots are marked for everyone.

Tips

  • Name slots by date, like "Fri Nov 6". Don't number them; dates are what parents search for.
  • Add a few "birthday treat" slots so those are easy to grab too.
  • If you run a rotation every term, copy the same pattern into a fresh event rather than editing the old one.

FAQ

Do parents need to install the app or sign up?

No. They open the link in a browser and tap a slot.

Can the same list handle birthday treats too?

Yes. Add a slot like "Birthday treat for Noam" and a parent claims it like any other item.

What if a parent can't make their date?

In the app, the organizer can remove a claim so the slot opens up again, and can let the parent know if they have notifications on. Then someone else can take it.

We already have a rotation in a spreadsheet or the group chat.

Import it instead of retyping. The names already on it stay on it. See the guide on turning a sign-up sheet into an event.

Is there a limit on the number of slots?

No. Event lists have no item limit on any plan.
